Happy March

March 1st always excites me because I know that Spring is just around the corner! March is such an exciting month because there are tons of good things happening this month.

March has been declared Women's History month in the United States and the United Kingdom. This month highlights contributions of women to events in history. The first International Women's Day traces back to 1911. In 1987 Congress declared the whole month of March as Women's History month.

March 1st marks the start of the White House Easter Egg Roll 2012. This is an annual family event for a race to hunt for and race Easter eggs on the White House lawn. The Easter egg roll will take place Monday, April 9, 2012. This event will be open to children ages 13 years old and younger to include their family. The White House will distribute tickets via an online lottery system beginning March 1st beginning at 10 am Eastern Standard time and ends on March 5th at 10 am Eastern Standard time. Daylight savings time will also spring forward this year on March 20th. March Madness begins Tuesday, March 13th and ends Monday, April 2, 2012.

Last but not least, Saint Patrick's day is Saturday, March 17th. There will be lots of celebrations going on around the country in honor of Saint Patrick's day. So stay tuned for updates on those events. Until then, have a Happy Day!
